Energy Audits

An energy audit with Ecohouse involves comprehensive testing and inspection of the building shell, heating and cooling systems, ductwork, water heating, appliances and lighting. It includes the following procedures:

  • Blower door test to measure air infiltration and identify air leakage locations.
  • Infrared camera scan to evaluate insulation performance in the side walls and attic, and to help locate air leakage.
  • Combustion testing for efficiency and safety of gas furnaces and water heaters.
  • Duct Blaster test to check for leakage in the duct work.
  • Testing for gas leaks.
  • Visual Inspection of entire house to check for potential problems related to air leakage and moisture.
  • Inspection of appliances and lighting.

"We had an energy audit with Ecohouse and then had our home insulated and made some easy adjustments to make the house more energy efficient. The difference was immediate!  A cooler 2nd floor in the summer. A warmer home in the winter . We went from using 4-5 space heaters to using NONE and cutting our energy bill for the year by 1/3. A great selling point for this 1936 built home."  -Sally and Neil Larrimer
