Energy Ratings

Ecohouse is certified by the Residential Energy Service Network (RESNET) to provide professional Home Energy Ratings (HERS) for new and existing homes.

We record all of the components and the energy performance of the house, enter this information into an energy analysis software (REMRATE) and produce a certified energy rating. We compare the energy performance of your home to a similar sample home, built to the current building codes. If the rating is 85 or lower ( on a scale of 1-100) than your home can qualify for an Energy Star label and a $2000 tax credit. Substantial incentives are also available through the Energy Star New Homes program sponsored by Columbia Gas and AEP.

HERS ratings are used by many builders to meet Energy Star standards, as well as the standards of other energy efficient building programs. Ecohouse works with builders and home owners in Central Ohio to provide certified energy ratings.
